Vee Leonard brings a wealth of experience to Boy Agnew Potanovic Miller, having served as legal counsel for 19 years in the State University System, most recently in her role as Vice President and General Counsel at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). As General Counsel at FGCU, Vee managed FGCU’s four associate general counsels and other legal support personnel, while overseeing a broad spectrum of legal matters, including labor and employment issues, compliance matters, conflicts of interest and ethics issues, policy writing, procurement, and various other aspects of local government.
Vee is an accomplished trainer on legal issues impacting educational institutions, government entities, and other employers, such as public meetings and records, employment searches, FERPA, and the intersection of worker’s compensation, ADA, and FMLA issues in the workplace. She is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) and has served on its membership committee. Vee was also a member of the Florida Bar Foundation from 2005 to 2011. She is currently a member of the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics and is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP).
Vee received her law degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. While there, she was a Senior Articles Editor for the Journal of Law and Public Policy as well as a member of the Trial Competition Team. Vee holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida, where she was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society.
A native Floridian, having grown up in Orlando, Vee currently resides in Lehigh Acres with her husband. They enjoy being empty nesters and have five adult children living across the country.
When not working, Vee enjoys gardening and takes pride in growing mainly vegetables. Vee is also active volunteering in various church activities to benefit the community.
