Join our team!

We are looking for a litigation associate to join our growing team.  We are a boutique firm with experienced local attorneys and a practice focused on employment (management side only), business/civil litigation, and government law.   We have amazing clients and sophisticated legal work, but we are not a typical/traditional law firm.  Like most law firms, we work very hard; however, we also love where we work and believe anyone who works for us should too. We work collaboratively and genuinely like one another.   We like music and play it throughout the office all day.  Unless we have meetings or court appearances that dictate formal attire, you will find us in business casual attire or even jeans.  We are committed to our legal community and community at large, with service on a variety of state and local boards. We are extremely proud of the culture and working environment we have created, and we are careful to ensure each person who joins our team is the right fit.

Want to work remotely?  Although we are certain you will like our office vibe and enjoy working with us in person, we also understand that children get sick, AC units malfunction, and sometimes you just feel like working from home.  Want to set your own schedule?  You are generally free to work when you need/want, as long as you are taking care of clients and getting your work done.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, etc. (please, no drama!)
  • Work cooperatively with our team to preserve our culture and help ensure our success
  • Independently work or co-counsel cases from beginning to close
  • Draft substantive pleadings and motions
  • Respond to motions and discovery
  • Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and client meetings
  • Counsel (or learn to counsel) clients on employment matters, including employee termination, leave, and discipline issues; discrimination, harassment, and retaliation; and other HR-related matters
  • Draft responses to administrative charges pending before the EEOC and FCHR
  • Prepare memoranda, correspondence, and various other legal documents
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed

Your Skills, Ability, and Experience:

  • At least two years of litigation experience, preferably in both state and federal court (MAJOR bonus points for employment law experience!)
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Self-motivated and driven, with ability to work independently but willingness to accept direction as appropriate
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude and demeanor
  • Proficient using Microsoft Word and Outlook, comfortable using PowerPoint, Excel, and online practice management systems
  • Florida Bar license required
  • Connection to Southwest Florida/Lee County a plus
  • Excellent references, ability to pass drug test and background screen
